Teeth Growth in Children

In children, the first teeth erupt about six months of age.  Lower teeth erupt 1 to 2 months before the corresponding upper teeth.  Between the ages of 6 months and 3 years, all of a child’s first 20 primary teeth should come.  Girl’s teeth come a little earlier than a boy’s.  Between the age of 6 and 11-year children lose their 20 primary teeth.  The first permanent molar teeth erupt at the age of six years and they emerge behind the existing primary teeth.  Incisors, canines, and premolars erupt into the gap in the gum left by shed primary teeth.
